Personal Trainer at the genesis fit

Garrett - Nasm Certified

Director of Training and Performance

Garrett is a NASM-certified personal trainer and the Director of Training and Performance at The Genesis Fit in Marshfield, MA. Don't let his calm, quiet demeanor and easygoing nature fool you — Garrett is an endurance and strength powerhouse. He recently completed a Deca Marathon (ten marathons on ten consecutive days) and last year finished a 24-hour challenge at the studio, completing 24 workouts in 24 hours!

But what sets Garrett apart isn't just what he can do — it's how he coaches. He's technical by nature, breaking down each movement and constantly introducing new patterns to keep training effective and engaging. When a client comes in with an injury or limitation, Garrett becomes a problem-solver, working through different movements until he finds what helps. For adults over 40 building strength, muscle mass, and bone density, that thoughtful, individualized approach makes all the difference.

He's also, by every account, one of the most humble and genuine people you'll ever meet. That calm presence puts clients instantly at ease — people open up to him, trust him, and stay consistent because of it.

Garrett also founded The Genesis Fit's sport-specific personal training program for middle and high school athletes, which has quickly become a favorite among local families and the kids who train with him. Whether you're chasing a personal best or building strength for the long haul, Garrett will have you leaving every session stronger, challenged, and excited for the next one.

The Genesis Fit Owner and Personal Trainer Christopher Ryan.

Christopher Ryan - Founder

The Genesis Fit

Christopher Ryan is the Founder of The Genesis Fit. His approach to training wasn't built in a textbook — it was forged through his own body, twice rebuilt from the ground up.

His fitness journey began in high school, when he joined cross country after signing up for the Marines and dropped 75 pounds before boot camp. He served from 2008 to 2013, and like many who serve, he didn't come home unscathed — he tore both rotator cuffs and suffered a back injury during his time in uniform. After the Marines, he competed in physique and went on to coach competitive physique and bikini from 2015 to 2018, immersing himself in nutrition, programming, and the science of changing the human body.

Then his body broke down. A series of back injuries pushed his weight back up to 240 pounds, and in 2016 his back froze entirely. At 26 years old, he asked himself a question that changed everything: if this is 26, what is 50 going to look like?

That question became the foundation of The Genesis Fit. Christopher lost 50 pounds a second time — and, more importantly, he built a system to keep it off. He learned that real transformation isn't a 30-day sprint; it's a way of living built to last decades. That's the principle behind the studio's guiding philosophy: 30 Years, Not 30 Days.

His comeback also shaped how The Genesis Fit trains. Having rehabbed his own injuries — including two torn rotator cuffs and chronic back issues — Christopher pursued post-rehab and physical therapy training through internships in 2018, learning to work with bodies that are healing, not just bodies that are healthy. His background in bodybuilding, coupled with his deep understanding of nutrition, anchors the studio's emphasis on fueling the body properly rather than chasing crash diets. Every decision at The Genesis Fit — the weekly InBody scans, the semi-private coaching model, the focus on accountability and sustainable nutrition — traces back to lessons Christopher learned the hard way.

Today, Christopher steps in to train when needed, but his real focus is bigger: investing in his clients and coaches, and expanding the vision in order for The Genesis Fit to have impact on more people who are ready to build a body — and a life — that lasts.

Dr. Alexis Ryan Co-Founder The Genesis Fit in Marshfield MA. Personal Training Studio

Dr. Alexis Ryan - Co-Founder

Research and Development

Dr. Alexis Ryan is the Co-Founder of The Genesis Fit, and the scientific backbone behind much of what makes the studio different. With a doctorate and a background in molecular biology and research, Alexis brings rigor and real science to a fitness industry too often driven by trends and quick fixes.

While she doesn't train clients directly, her fingerprints are on the parts of The Genesis Fit that set it apart. She translates complex applied science into something practical and usable — creating nutrition videos, blogs, and label-reading guidance that help clients understand not just what to do, but why it works. When the studio makes a decision about nutrition or supplementation, it's grounded in evidence, and that's largely thanks to Alexis.

Behind the scenes, she supports the staff in an administrative role and helps keep the entire operation aligned and running smoothly. But her most important role may be as Christopher's partner and sounding board. She offers him the wisdom, guidance, and clarity that keep The Genesis Fit pointed at the right missions and goals — all while raising their two daughters.

Alexis is proof that the strongest foundations are often built quietly, behind the scenes, by the people who keep everyone else moving forward.
